Well it’s that time again ! 2 exciting games to look forward to. First we got Lyon vs Bayern on Tuesday, followed by Barcelona vs Inter. Well here is my take on these 2 games:
– Lyon vs Bayern – Bayern has the edge in this one. The media and most people see them through, but really I think Lyon will make it. Lyon is very strong defensively; they are stronger at the back than Bayern even though they will be without Toulalan. They can make it at home without conceding a goal. Their main problem will be that they need to score, but they are playing at home and with the crowd factor, they definitely can put at least one in. Remember, they only need 1 goal to tie. Ribery will be out as well for Bayern and this takes a lot of pressure off Lyon. With both Ribery and Robben on the field, Bayern will stretch any team to the limit by attacking relentlessly on both flanks. With Ribery out, Lyon has a better chance of containing Bayern if they can stop Robben. I expect Lyon to play Pjanic closer to Lisandro Lopez, and expect to see more of Bastos attacking on the left. This will be a close game I think, but I still tip Lyon for the win.
– Barcelona vs Inter: I think this one is over for Barcelona. Barcelona is the best team in the world, no doubt, but if there is one team I can’t see waste a 3-1 deficit, it has to be Inter. Mourinho’s team is going to get the job done. They will try to contain Barca while looking to hit them on the counter. They will try to score 1 away goal to wrap things up, even though they don’t have to. Samuel Etoo will be desperate to get some pay back time after being offloaded by Guardiola (quite unfairly I think). Mourinho will have Etoo charged up emotionally and Milito will try to prove he belongs with the best strikers. Barcelona is brilliant but i see Inter scoring a goal in this tie and that will kill things off. In the end Inter will book their ticket to the finals.
